Airbus, a prominent player in the global aerospace industry, has ambitious plans to recruit 2,000 engineers from India within the next two years. This strategic move is part of Airbus’s broader vision to increase the count of Indian engineers within the organization to a total of 5,000. Remi Maillard, President of Airbus India and South Asia MD, emphasized that India is not only viewed as a thriving market but also as a significant talent pool.
In a significant development, Airbus inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gati Shakti University (GSU) located in Vadodara. The MoU was formalized in the presence of India’s Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnav. This collaboration marks the inception of a new engineering program focused on the aerospace sector. Maillard expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with Gati Shakti University, emphasizing its role in nurturing a skilled workforce that is well-prepared to cater to the rapidly expanding aerospace industry.
At present, Airbus boasts a team of over 3,000 Indian engineers actively engaged in the design and digital departments of the company. The objective is to elevate this number significantly, reaching beyond 5,000 engineers by the year 2025. Maillard underscored Airbus’s unwavering confidence in India’s dynamic workforce and the reason behind their substantial investments in the country. Notably, the inaugural “Made-in-India” C295 military aircraft is scheduled for delivery in September 2026, marking a significant milestone in Airbus’s commitment to the nation’s aerospace sector.
