What You Will Be Doing As An Credit & Collect Specialist

  • Dispute Resolution: Investigating and resolving customer disputes related to invoices, payment discrepancies, or any billing issues. Collaborating with internal departments, such as sales or customer service, to address and resolve customer concerns.
  • Credit Evaluation: Assessing the creditworthiness of new and existing customers by analyzing their financial statements, credit history, and payment trends. This involves reviewing credit applications, conducting credit checks, and establishing credit limits.
  • Collections Management: Monitoring and following up on overdue payments to collect outstanding balances. This may involve contacting customers via phone, email, or written correspondence to remind them of their payment obligations and negotiate payment terms.
  • Payment Processing: Recording and applying customer payments accurately and efficiently. This involves reconciling accounts, updating payment information, and maintaining accurate records of transactions.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers to ensure ongoing communication and cooperation regarding payment matters. Providing excellent customer service and addressing customer inquiries related to billing and payments.
  • Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities to streamline credit and collection processes, improve efficiency, and reduce the organization’s overall credit risk. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement system enhancements, automation, or other process improvements.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generating regular reports and analysis on accounts receivable, aging balances, and collection trends. This includes identifying high-risk accounts, forecasting cash flows, and recommending strategies for improving collection efficiency.
  • Compliance and Legal Requirements: Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies related to credit and collections activities. This may include adhering to fair debt collection practices, maintaining confidentiality of customer information, and understanding legal remedies in case of non-payment.
