HPE Software Systems Engineer – DevOps Job Description
- HPE’s Datacenter Networking group is seeking a junior software engineer (entry level) who wants to develop distributed systems and cloud native applications. The chosen individual will be working with experienced software engineers to design, build, fix bugs, and improve performance for both current products and upcoming enhancements.
- The job provides opportunities to create and develop parts of software that involve networks, utility programs, databases and other internet based technologies. In addition to creating and developing parts of software, engineers will gain knowledge of how hardware and software work together to produce dependable software products as well as automated processes.
- In addition to gaining experience with large-scale automation systems, artificial intelligence (AI) agents, cloud-native technology, and contemporary infrastructure practices, the role is ideal for individuals who are interested in solving problems, learning new technologies and working as part of a collaborative team of experienced engineers
Qualifications & Skills
- B.Tech or M.Tech in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Hands on experience can include internships, academic projects, or co-ops. This includes 0-2 years of experience.
- Programming knowledge in Python, Golang, Java, C, or C++.
- Knowledge of core concepts in distributed systems, software engineering using cloud-native technologies, microservices architecture, and managing infrastructure through code.
- I have experience with various virtualization technologies, including but not limited to KVM, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and VMware.
- Knowledge of the use of various types of infrastructure (e.g., Cassandra, RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch, Docker, Prometheus, and/or Grafana) is required.
- Understanding of automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of REST or gRPC APIs.
- Exposure to deployment and automation tools such as Ansible, Helm, or Terraform.
- Interest in monitoring/observability tools like OpenTelemetry, Datadog and SigNoz.
- Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- I am willing to learn new technologies, accept feedback from others, and collaborate with senior engineers.
